Tom and his six cats – yes, SIX cats.

Menandcats.com gets many submissions of men who love cats – men who share their life with a feline friend, often two, occasionally three. But six!!! Never have I received a submission from a man who lives with six cats.

Not only does Tom share his life with six furry pals, he has a blog, wrote a book called Under the Paw: Confessions of a Cat Man and has written a newspaper article about his unabashed love for cats. Tom, you and your six cats are absolutely adorable. You are the cat-loving man of the week at Menandcats.com!

Nathan & Bowie

Nathan’s girlfriend, Katie, submitted this picture of her adorable kitten (Bowie) and her adorable boyfriend (Nathan).  Katie says that at first, Bowie wasn’t too sure about Nathan – but now Bowie is very fond of Nathan, and Katie reports that  the two are best friends.  Bowie is an 18 month-old orange tabby – my love for orange tabbies has already been well documented on this site – and Nathan is a college student. They both have “medium length hair.”

Missing pet alert

As regular readers of this blog already know, not only do I love cats, but I love dogs, too – and I love Brooklyn. I am always ready to lend a hand when a pet needs a home or a pet is missing in Brooklyn (FYI, Boris found a home and Liberty came back – happy tails!) And you know what else I happen to love? Steve’s Key Lime Pies in Red Hook, Brooklyn. Hey, this continues the theme of my fondness for Steves!   So, if you happen to live in Brooklyn and you are reading this, please help try to find Steve’s missing dog! Steve’s Jack Russell terrier, Mango, has been missing since Saturday and was last seen outside Jake’s BBQ and the B-61 Bar, at the corner of Degraw and Columbia Streets in Brooklyn (on the border of Cobble Hill/Carroll Gardens/Red Hook).  A gallery of Mango pictures can be found on the Steve’s Key Lime site, and if you spot Mango, call or text Steve at 718-288-0853, or call the bakery at 718-858-5333.Good luck, Steve and Mango!!  I hope you are reunited soon.

Steve, Dexter, and Celia

Steve’s wife, Mary, submitted these lovely photos of Steve with their cats Dexter (the grey tabby) and Celia (the black tabby). Dexter and Celia are littermates who were adopted from the ASPCA as kittens and are now nearly three years old. Not only do I love tabby cats, and adopting two cats who are littermates, I also happen to be especially fond of men named Steve! It’s true – my father’s name was Steve, and I rarely meet a Steve I don’t like.

Kittybank

I think it’s fairly common for people to do “cat voices” for their feline friends. My husband and I do it all the time, and I will often have an entire “conversation” with my cats, with me talking and then doing “cat voice” for the cat (“Hey mom! Fill my bowl! Fill it now!”) Yes, I know. So wrong. Ahem. Anyway… we think Charley is really smart. He is so smart that rather than just saying “fill my bowl!” he also talks about things like U.S. foreign policy, the subprime mortgage crisis, etc. Today Charley was acting really busy, like he had a lot to do, so he “said” (well, my husband said) “OK, I have to fix Citibank now. First order of business, I’m going to re-name it Kittybank.” He’s a genius, that cat (ok, husband) of mine.
