Benefit/Here Kitty Kitty

Tonight there is a benefit show on the Lower East Side in NYC for two pet adoption organizations, Waggytail Rescue and Here Kitty Kitty. I hadn’t heard of either of these organizations before, but a subsequent visit to the Here Kitty Kitty website has revealed that HKK is located in New Jersey, hence why I was not familiar with them as I don’t live in Jersey.
I love this little ditty from the HKK website:

As the proud cat-mom of two cats, I agree. Also, two cats are double the cuteness of one!!

Stop, or I’ll scratch!

Menandcats.com loves this story and accompanying photo from Longview, Washington’s Daily News. According to the article, the Woodland Police Department adopted a grey cat, Rebel, who is now the office cat. The police officers all chip in to care for Rebel and pay for his food and vet bills. The best part of the article is this quote: “The chief, who admittedly has a soft spot for felines, reaches into his desk and pulls out a few goodies, he said.” Who doesn’t love a man in uniform and a cat?

Famous Men Who Love Cats: Marilyn Manson (Who knew?!)

According to this Page Six tidbit from the New York Post, Marilyn Manson a.) is getting divorced and b.) loves his cats. I did not know about either of these facts before today:

January 9, 2007 — IT’S about to get nasty in the Dita von Teese/Marilyn Manson split. While the oddball couple have no children, they do have several cats, two of which are named Lily and Aleister, and two dachshunds, Greta and Eva. A source friendly with the two says, “They are fighting over custody of the cats – not so much the dogs.” Von Teese, a stunning burlesque dancer and MAC spokeswoman, dumped Manson last week because of his “demons” and hard-drinking ways. She took all the animals with her when she moved out of the house, but apparently, Manson misses the felines most. Von Teese declined comment.

Kitty Bling

According to this article on MSNBC.com, a dentist in Indiana gave his cat GOLD FRONTZ, as my husband put it. At $900 a tooth, he could have bought his cat a lotta catnip instead. The cat, Sebastian, is pictured below in all his blinged-out/pissed-off glory:
