A near cat-astrophe

NEW YORK (AP) _ A champion cat was not exactly gracious about his win: He bolted for 14 hours.
Evgeny Plushenko, named after the Olympic gold medal-winning Russian figure skater, jumped from a judge’s arms after being named best of its breed at the Cat Fanciers’ Association Cat annual show. He beat out 200 other felines at the Madison Square Garden event on Sunday. The “Best in Show” Russian Blue with emerald eyes was found Monday, after 14 hours, huddled in a carpenter’s room.

Allergy-free felines

According to this article in today’s New York Post, genetically modified cats are now available which will not cause an allergic reaction. Although this is great news for people who are allergic to cats yet always wanted one, it’s too bad that each cat costs $4,000… especially when so many kitties need homes who can be adopted for free (or a modest fee) from shelters.

Thurston

Thurston

This handome boy is Thurston. I’m posting this pic for comparison to the Professor, and also because I’ve featured his brother, Charley. Unlike his independent-minded brother, Thurston is a total mama’s boy. He wants to cuddle with me constantly (hey, Thurst, it’s 98 degrees out, can we not cuddle for five minutes just this once?) He loves fake mice, cuddling with his people and his brother Charley, and licking his belly obsessively.
