Two cats and a baby

Now that my son is crawling, he loves to crawl around after the cats. Wherever a cat goes, the baby follows.  The baby gets a very specific “I’ve just seen a cat!” look on his face, where his whole face lights up. And I swear one of his first words will be “cat” because when he sees a cat, he starts saying “Ah, Hah, haaa, haaaa”… which might not sound much like “cat” but he says it pretty consistently when he is watching a cat.

Charley has always been more agile, slimmer, and shyer (although he’s gotten noticeably friendlier and cuddlier over the years) than his brother. He is better at evading the baby. But he also has accepted him into the pack as he’s given him nuzzles and will purr when the baby pets him with mommy’s help. Thurston, who is a little slower, lazier, and  not quite as cunning as his brother, is still figuring out that if he wants to avoid the baby, it’s better to just jump up somewhere high rather than lay down on the floor. He’ll get it eventually. In the meantime, we managed to find this great baby gate which has a cut-out for the cats to walk through! Yes, the cats could theoretically jump over the gate (well, Charley could,  since he is able to jump up onto counters much higher than the gate – I’m not so sure about Thurston) but since they are seniors, I thought it would be nice to give them the option of walking through the gate rather than having to jump over it.

Yowza!!

I MUST get this calendar featuring naked men and cats!! It’s called Six Packs, Nine Lives and best of all, it raises money for the Found Animals Foundation, an organization dedicated to minimizing shelter euthanasia. Since Men and Cats didn’t create a calendar this year (too busy with all the human and feline guys in my life!) I will fully endorse this one!

CATching up

Sorry for the slow posting lately, folks. I obviously have some CATching up to do.

I’ve been really busy taking care of my little cat-loving guy, and being a working mom. The little one is very amused by watching the cats. He loves to watch them scurry by, and he’s been petting the cats with help from mommy and daddy. The cats don’t mind a bit.

Also, nearly every day on my walk to the subway, I walk by two houses next to each other where I’ve spotted cats (either in the windowsill or outside) in the past. Each day I look for a cat. I hadn’t seen one in months. The other day I said to myself, “This is ridiculous, you make sure to cross the street just so you MIGHT see a cat, when you’ve got two cats at home… you see cats all the time, who cares if you see a random cat…” Then I saw one of the cats. And I was delighted. And I decided that what I’m doing when looking for cats in windows is… conducting a cat scan.

Finally, hot dudes with kittens! What else do I need to say? Just watch it.

Caleb & Pices

I’m glad someone responded to my pleas for more shirtless man and cat photos. This is Caleb and his cat, Pices. They live in Tampa, FL, which happens to be a place where my husband lived for many years. I hear it’s a great place to live, and it’s warm, so there must be lots of shirtless, cat-loving men there.
