Cat-loving men – Please consider taking a moment to take this online survey about human relationships with pets. See below for details. Mikel Delgado is a doctoral student in psychology at UC Berkeley. He and his co-author, Gretchen Reevy, did a study last year about how people perceive cat personality based on coat color, and only 9.5% of the respondents were male! Mikel says, “We’d like to increase that percentage for our new study.”

I took about 4 pages of this survey then stopped. As an academic myself I have created surveys and am familiar with the way they are designed. This one is so ridiculously weighted toward one set of conclusions, all to do with the unhealthy human-cat relationship, that one is hard-pressed not to laugh at the questions. Surely the author could have at least tried to hide his or her research bias with more carefully balanced questions!
